Squeaky clutch pedal? Here's a fix

Does your clutch pedal squeak near the top of travel? If so, it could be due to a plastic plunger that contacts a rubber bumper on the pedal arm. That's what it was on mine, and a little silicone grease cured the problem wonderfully. See circled area in the attached photo.

Just depress the pedal a bit to move it off of the plunger, then apply the grease. I used a q-tip.

Good tip! Thanks for posting!

Is is just me, or do I see brake / clutch fluid leaking at the clutch master cylinder?

I believe that's an old bit of residue from past squeak hunts or not. I wiped it off, and will recheck in the future, though, but clutch fluid is stable so I suspect it's old. I was wondering if anyone would notice that....

Just another 2 cents worth. If you have a squeaky clutch pedal through MOST of the pedal travel, it could be bushings. There are 2 nylon bushing on the shaft that the pedal pivots on. These can rot away over time & use, leaving you with metal to metal contact between the arm & the shaft. Lubing it up gets rid of the squeak but only temporarily. Putting new bushings in cures it for another 20 years.

Toyota Part # 9038613007, you need 2. Fits all 1975 to 2016 Pickups/Tacomas, 1984 to 2001 4Runners, 1969 to 1984 Land Cruisers, plus T100's, Tundras and some passenger cars. BTW, the same bushings are also on the brake pedal shaft.

Confirming today that mine in fact DOES need the bushing (90386-08002) for the clutch pushrod yolk, and the hole is now oblong as others have noted on theirs. I'll be welding it back up and re-drilling once the new bushings come in. FWIW, my top pivot point bushings (90386-13007, 2pc) were fine, but I replaced them anyway since I was in there. And for another $5, you might as well replace the two cushions (90541-06008).
PS: Remove the fuel door pull knob to improve access to the 14mm hex head bolt that holds the clutch pedal in place. It's then a tight fit to get the bolt out due to insulation on the sidewall, but it will come out with some patience.
