Speed hand

On my truck ive noticed in the mornings when i first take off it does not work, When i get up the road maybe a mile it pops up to the speed i'm running. It never does it after that until the next day. It does not bounce or make any noise.. I'm just wondering how it could do that if it cable driven? or is it cable driven?

What year is it, they swapped from cable to electronic somewhere in the early 90s. My 93 was electronic. If it's electronic it could be the sensor starting to go. I wouldn't worry about it unless it gets worse.

It depends on the tranny. The W-series is uses a cable driven speedo where as I'm pretty sure the G-series uses an electronic

i'd look into the speed sensor at the back of the tranny. i had mine go out completely a while ago. the sensors got a plastic gear on it that wears out which can make it work intermitently. definitely sounds like the issue you might be having.
