This may be a stupid question but I guess I will ask it anyways. My rear carrier bearing has gone out twice since I got my truck several months ago. I am pretty sure it is because the truck is lifted and the rear angle has gone to far. is there anyway that putting spacers on the top side of the carrier bearing could drop it down so it doesnt wear it out as fast? thanks for any info.

oh and I DO plan on going to a 1 piece driveline but I will be doing this after I swap in the 7mge and w56 tranny and tcase ( have a 3.0 now) so don't want to do it now cus length would be different later. thanks

 

sounds like a logical idea but im not sure what tolerances that first section of driveline has as far as the angle goes....

any idea how far you want to drop it?

 

not TO much just a little bit. ( don't know exactly what a little bit is though) just enough to take back the rear angle a bit.

Mt Goat... it seems that it would increase the rear angle and make it even worse? but if it worked I guess I am wrong. wait. was it your front piece of the 2? if so I can see that but mine is in the rear piece I am pretty sure. I guess I will try the washers first then if that dont work maybe try your way. lol

 

That's right, on mine the front half angle was too extreme due to installing dual cases and raising the drive train. I guess I was lucky the rear half angle didn't cause any problem. But I thought I'd mention it because in your case you will be increasing the angle in the front half by lowering the center bearing.
