SAS third member question

I'm doing an sas on my 86. The axle I'm using is from an 85. But the third member has an abs line hooked up. The 4cylinders didnt have abs did they? Isnt that a v6 third then?I've attached some pictures of the axle. I could get more if needed. I havent started doing gears yet as I'm still cleaning and getting the axle ready for truss and gussets. But I wanted to get my info right since I'll be ordering parts here soon. I do know that I'd need different carrier bearings if it is a v6 third so it can fit the 4cylinder housing. Thanks for the help.

The day i picked it up

Laid out ready to be stripped

Hub assemblies, rotors, axles, and 3rd out

I'm assuming you have a v6 housing as well? Mines a 4 cylinder housing. I'm trying to figure out if I need different bearings or if I can use all v6 parts and it still work fine in the housing.

I think were confusing housings here. Some one put a v6 diff in your solid axle. The v6 diff has 4 ribs on the 3rd vs the 4cyl that has 3 ribs. Your 3rd member "housing" is a v6.

To re gear, just get a normal v6 diff rebuild kit and r&P (unless theyre 4.88s) You ONLY need special conversion bearings if your trying to put a v6 gear set, into a 4cly 3rd member. NO CONVERSION BEARINGS are needed to drop a complete v6 3rd into a solid axle.

gotcha. Yah I was confused about this. I had read on pirate about the need for different bearings but I must have misread the info. Thank you for clearing this up for me!

I used a second gen v6 housing when I regeared. I just used an engine freeze plug for that hole and it worked great.
