Reusing Timing Belt Hyraulic Tensioner

I am just about done with doing my HG and I replaced the timing belt as well but I was wondering what everyone uses to get the pin back into the hydraulic tensioner? The manual calls for using a press to push it down enough to get the pin in. Is there any way I could do this without using a press?

x2 I just put it back on and when you tighten the bolts it pushes back in and tensions.

I used a vise and squeezed it slowly until I could get the pin through it. After reinstalling it, the pin gets pulled out.

I did the same thing on a new tensioner I accidentally let go on.

Considering the situation, possibly a new tensioner is a good idea?
