Painting driveshaft- any balance problems?

Hey guys. I have the bed off my truck and I am cleaning the frame, removing rust and going to paint it with POR15. I was thinking of getting other things while I am at it like the driveshaft. However, I think I remember hearing that painting a driveshaft can throw it off balance. Anyone ever try it?

maybe you could try putting the rear in the air on jackstands, then starting and putting it in gear and paint the driveshaft with it rotating so the paint is evenly applied?

seriously though, as long as it's fairly evenly sprayed on, should be fine

Yeah, just get the rear up on blocks, get your buddy to put it gear and just cruise at a few mph so you get an even coat on it.

POR15 goes a long way too, it spreads well so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. But don't get it near the sliding yoke as it could gum that action up...

I always thought a spiral pattern would be cool on a drive shaft.

Judging on the amount of undercoating stuck to my DS, and the fact that it is still balanced, there is nothing to worry about.

Now that you mention it, I think I am going to put red and white barber pole stripes on it!
