My problems continue...

Well Today I fill up with gas about 10 mins from my house. I drove my truck to the bank and then to get gas so it had been running for maybe 10 mins. I shut it off, get my gas. and start it back up. As soon as it fires it starts billowing white smoke and is only running on 3 cylinders. I fill the parking lot with smoke as I ease it away from the pumps. By the time I get tp the back of the lot its running on 4 cyls and smoking less but still smoking. Im thinking my head gasket just ☺☺☺☺ the bed. I have a radiator leak that I was having to top off every 2 weeks or so. Well the last few days...Its been alot warmer and I've been topping off every few days. It doesnt look like the radiator is leaking worse so maybe the hg was failing slowly. Even when it ran low on coolant, The temp NEVER has run more then a little over half way, Even today when I let it idle for 10 mins after I limped it home. This motor is SUPPOSED to have 46,000 miles on it according to the previous owner, Even if they rebuilt it I would assume they would do the head gasket. So would anything else cause these conditions? Im thinking of doing the timing chain at the same time since It will be pulled down and doind new steel guides as well. Any suggestions?

Well, my '92 threw a rod after 21k mi on a "professional" rebuild. The replacement burned a valve after 500mi on a rebuild. So, there's not much telling how well your SUPPOSED rebuild was done. The only way to really know what happened is to look at it....the oil and the coolant. Also, have it tested.

For the timing chain, it depends on if that was replaced on that SUPPOSED rebuild. To ease your mind and your motor, if you have the money and it hadn't been replaced (or the quality is questionable), I'd do it. BTW, did you notice if there's been any noise coming from the area of your timing chain before this happened?

I would look at your mass air. see if the baffle inside is stuck in the open positon. you also could take the + off the battery for awhile and see if it reboots the computer to factory settings. could be you O2 sensor.......Process of elimination

Huh? How would that cause him to leak coolant and run on only three cylinders and even burst into a cloud of smoke?
