kinda high idle than normal

about a month ago i changed my spark plugs and installed a K&N FIPK. i did the plugs at the same time while i had all the airbox crap out of the way. i used the NGK v-power plugs and couldnt find my plug gap tool so i used one i had laying around
looks like this:

usually i use the fully round ones like this one but couldn't find it

so i gaped them to .032 i think as best i could and put them on.
when driving around after warmed up my idle is pretty consistent around 1k or slightly higher. sometimes it drops to the 800-900s where it was before.

so basically should i go back and regap with a better gapper? would bad plug gaps cause the slightly higher idle?

oh and i dont remember if i gapped them to .032 or .036, its for a stock 3vze

idle speed is not determined by plug gap, it is determined by the idle screw position. If the idle was low at one point because of worn out plugs (which does happen) and then the idle screw was adjusted to bring the engine idle back up to spec 700-750 I believe and then new plugs were installed the idle would go up as you guys are describing.

1000RPM is too high on the RE's IMO and can lead to other problems like engine run quality when applying brakes etc etc. Not to mention poor gas mileage.

Other things that affect idle speed are air/fuel mixture and timing.
