hey everyone, the other day i got into my 92 pickup, and tried to start it, but my key would turn, its stuck in the 'lock' position, and it wont turn to 'acc' or 'start' etc.. so the lock on the tumbler isnt unlocking. does anyone know where i can get one, and how much? and How the heck do u get it out?

 

mine locked up on me too , and i ended up getting it all replace , my mechanic did it , if you can do that stuff yourself do it , it cost me like 250.00 .

in the meantime, jimmy the key up and down vertically (parallel to the key itself) while turning and you should be able to get it to turn in the meantime until you find a replacement.

 

Same thing happened to mine. I got one cut from the VIN code from the dealer and that worked for me.

 

good news, the guy who sold me the truck, brought me another steering column, so i just popped it right in, and problem solved.
