front brakes

Hello I have to change my front brake pads on my 86 4runner are there any shims behind the pads,or do i just replace the pads thanks.Any help would be appreciated.

There are usually some thin metal shims you just transfer to the new pads....are your's missing?

i havent looked yet but my guess is that if they are metal shims then they would be rusted do you guys replace them

Not unless they'e falling apart. Man, I grease the holy h@!! out of my calipers, backside of the pads, slider pins, etc. every time I change my pads. Keeps 'em working smooth & prevents all that rust...
