Thumbs up Engine mods

Hey just wondering what mods are available for a 22re. My old girl has 148,000 on it and should be rebuilt. So just getting an Idea of whats out there. Heard swapping to the newer 4 in late 90's tacoma is more practical but I like the the 22re and was wondering what you guys thought.
Thanks

148K and needs a rebuild? You're shootin' your load a bit early with that one. 148K is just getting broken in unless you havent taken care of your truck

for around 2000, you can coax another 50-100 horse out of the 22re engine, and shorten its life span to about 75k miles or so.
swapping to the tacoma's 4 cyl is a waste of time and money- you'll get more bang for your buck swapping to the 3.4 v6.

more bang for the buck, true, but that buck only goes so far when gas shoots up agian.

Various cam shafts bigger bore intakes headers exahaust should get you goin a bit.

But unless your using a ton of oil you shouldnt need a rebuild.

Cant wait to find a wrecked 2.7 to swap into mine

haha, damn i read all these messages, and think "i must have the best runner out there"! i got mine 3 years ago now, and at 220,000kms im getting the head gasket done on it, ive done everything u can possibly think of to it. i built a 40L stainless steel water tank for camping, installed a reversing camera, an aldi head unit with amp and subby. Installed NiteStalkers which are awesome, converted it to gas and have had nothing but problems. Also just installed a wood grain dash that i got imported from the states. the list just goes one its endlesss

The engine runs great just lag in power. I plan on putting in a new timing chain. Plus I just got the truck and don't know who did what as for now she's a mean anemic machine.
