electrical problem

so when i turn my headlights on they are really dim in the first place, then i push in the brakes and my headlights and panel lights dim, when i park and pull the e-brake they brighten back up. i have already had the alternator and battery tested and they are both good. I figure there might be a short somewhere. also on my stop light switch there is a wire just sticking out of one of the connectors that looks cut. idk what this has to do with anything but my brake lights still work with it like that. any ideas on what to do?

Sounds like you have a wire somewhere hanging on by a few strands....or dirty connectors

I think you have a couple problems here. One, the old contacts of your headlight switch is preventing proper full voltage from getting to your headlights. Seabass (12voltguy.com) has a harness for exactly this situation. It removed the load from the headlight switch and puts it to a dedicated relay under the hood. You should contact him about that.

The second one is a bit of a mystery. It's possible the headlight harness will address this situation too... but from what you're describing and the limited wiring diagrams I have here, you either have a faulty ground or more than 1 problem in the headlight switch.

Discuss your situation with Seabass and go from there.
