? concerning timing chain

my engine rattles alot now, its not anything loose like the exhaust, its definitly in the engine. I adjusted teh valves a couple times and it seemed to help but now its gotten to where it rattles almost all the time. Could this be related to the timing chain being worn? i dont know when it was replaced last but also the timing would jump around a couple degrees whenever i tried to adjsut the timing

what RPM level does the rattling happen at?

on the 22RE the t-chain usually only rattles around 2700-3000 RPM.

i also highly recommend engnbldr's kit with the steel-backed driver's side guide which is the one superjoe posted a link to on e-bay.

definitely pull the valve cover and look down there to see if that is really the problem before buying a kit.

here are two good write-ups on doing the job.
