I'm driving from Mass to California in a few weeks and I'm thinking about switching to the Amsoil XL 10W40 because it's good for 7500 miles/6 months. Right now I'm running Castrol GTX 10W30. My 22RE doesn't leak or burn any oil between 3K mile oil changes right now so I'm thinking the Amsoil would be a good choice. I mainly want to switch for the extended change interval due to my long drive. I'll be zigzagging across the country and don't feel like having to change my oil in a friend's driveway.


Does anyone use the XL which is 7500 miles as opposed to their regular which is 15,000 mile change intervals?

 

How about valvoline synthetic blend I did the same thing, drive from NH to Commifornia. I had previously used Castrol 10/30, then switched to 05/30 syn blend, my next oil change will be to full syn, Valvoline.
