I was looking to work on my brakes and just noticed that this truck doesnt seem to have the piece that goes down to guide the cable? Looks almost to be a block off plate of some kind... any ideas?
Forgot to mention I bought it like this as previous owner said it snapped and always just left it in gear ..

Reason: Extra info
Not sure why but this model does not have the ebrake that goes through the firewall and then down, instead it goes straight from the cabin, over the tranny, and then to the rear. I will do a write up later with pics.
That is strange, I've only seen the cable go through the firewall then around the wheel and down under the floor. Maybe it's a V6 thing? Looks like maybe there's not enough space between the firewall and the head/manifold.
My 93 V6 4x4 has the e-brake set up the same way. Down thru the floor and then over the transmission.
My my problem is that I have the guide/tube, but somewhere between the pulley and the intermediate link, the cable is bound up. All the linkage aft of the tranny moves freely. So I’m stuck leaving it in gear until I can figure out how to unbind it.

The front 1/2 of the ebrake cable to the rear axel/linkage is fully sleeved and it serves as the cable guide through the firewall to the pulley. So it could be caught up anywhere inside of that.
You might be better off just replacing the front 1/2 of the cable. They're about $25-30 for a replacement.
I'd recommend pulling your old one first since it's already not doing anything for you and measuring the length to make sure you order the right one for your cab/bed configuration. The first one I got was about 6" too short.

Right on. Good to know it’s one piece and good idea to pull the old one first. Thank you!
