alternator?
first of all i know this has been posted to death but i dont currently have enough time on the computer to do all of that.
well yesterday when i started my truck up the charge and brake light stayed on and my volt gauge didnt move up with starting, my headlights dont get brighter or anything like that so i am assuming that my alt is dead, i just replaced the brushes less than 1k miles ago so it shouldnt be that. it is kinda dirty, ok really dirty, but i havnt been mudding at all in like a week so i dont think that caused it? or is that a possibility? the night before i was "testing" out my new off road lights (2 hella 500s 55w and 2 square fogs which i am unsure of the wattage). could having too much draw have damaged my alt? or is there something i am missing?
also where are some good places to get a high output alt? since mine kinda died i figure i might as well replace it with a better one. (only if i have to)
sorry if this is kinda rambly or anything like that i am in a hurry and thanks in advance for any advice.

Is your truck running directly off of the battery? To check start your truck, then pull a battery lead and see if the truck continues to run. If it does not then you have an alternator problem. Could be the volt limiter inside of the alternator that is damaged. I am not sure if you can buy replacements for those. Your best bet would be buying a new one.
