i just bought a 87 pickup 22r 4x4 it sat for quite some time and is in pretty good shape but i can not get it to idle less than 1500 rpms, driving it runs fine and i really would rather keep the factory carb on it but if i cant get this sorted out i may just throw a weber on it.

ive tried adjusting what appears to be the idle screw (sticks directly out facing the passenger wheel) the idle drops when i turn it but if i bring it down to less than 1400 rpms it will die.

any advice would be greatly appreciated i love this truck!

Could be a bad fuel pump as well.

Google "ttora fsm" and you can download one for an 88. Sounds like vacuum too. Could be a gummed up Carb also. Maybe time for a Carb rebuild.

i orderd a weber today hope that solves it,im going to pull the intake to clean up that leaking plate and reseal it and im wanting to block off as much as possible, im wondering what is the box right above the starter that has a larger hose comming off it? can it be blocked off?do i need any cooling lines running to the bottom of the intake??
