4WD wont engage 1988 pickup
Hey guys, bought myself a new truck, fully plan on posting up some pics and whatnot and maybe even starting a buildup thread, but for now I have a problem (of course)
First details, 1988 p/u, 6cyl, auto trans
So when i put the truck into 4 hi or lo, i dont hear anything engage, no light comes on, and im pretty dang sure im not in 4wd.
Ive tried backing up and rolling forward a little, I've even locked up the hubs and had my gf drive the truck forward and back to see if the driveshaft spins, and when the hubs are locked the front driveshaft definitely does spin, but i dont think the wheels are really getting power.
i just dont feel like the thing is in gear though, it doesnt gear down in 4lo or anything, and there is no "click" on the shifter like its locking into gear or anything. I'm thinking it may be something electrical, but I dont know where to start.
Thanks in advance for any replies, I'm stoked to be back on yota tech after a year and a half with no toyota, feels good to be rollin in one again

it has a stick shifter right? only thing electrical that i'm aware of on transfer cases is push button or dial select 4x4 t-cases. a shifting type........there are actuators but that is mainly for automatic hubs and or CAD units on front axles.
if you were having front axle issues, you still should feel 4lo going to the rear wheels. trying leaving the hubs disengaged and then roll around in 4wd and see if the front drive shaft spins. i've used the video camera on my cell phone to test this. just hit record and lay it on the ground.....drive over it.
