4wd help

My 93 3.0l 4runner will not go into 4wd The gear selector will go, and I hear the relay clicking under the driver's side dash. I checked all of the vaccum lines on the passenger side under the hood, the cannister in the pass. ft. fenderwell. i cheched the vaccum lines to the ft diff., and the electrical connectors on the transfer case. Any ideas? Thanks for the help.

How do you know it isn't in 4WD? Is the light not showing or have you put it on blocks or slippery conditions & checked?

when you shift in, try going in reverse a little and forward a little a few times to try to get it to click in

Well the light does not light up in 4wd and only the rears spin. I have had no trouble getting into 4hi or 4low with the gear selector. I am thinking it is a vaccum or electrical issue, but have followed all the vaccum hoses and identified them and also verified that all connectors were connected to ft diff. and t-case. Also I can hear the relay clicking. Any advice on electrical diagnosis?

I'd say double check the vacuum hoses. If that fails, check to see if the 4wd sensor in the transfer case is actually working. Test it with a multimeter. This is what was wrong with my 4wd. As soon as I replaced it my 4wd was back in business. It's the sensor on the passenger side of the transfer case, kinda higher up a little. I remember getting at it was a pain in the arse. Just check the connection with it in the vehicle. I can't remember how much the stealer charged me for a new one though...
