4runner Door Alignment

The 4runner i got had its driver door hyperextend itseld and get messed up pretty good. The PO of the truck did hammer it out so that the door would close, but an issue is it is hard to close right at body contact. I can see the door gsaket closest to the hinges is getting squeezed and causing the bind. After looknig at the door when shut, you can see a good 1/2 inch gap between door and body. After doing some searching i found the adjustment on the doors are the hinge mounts on the body. My problem is i can get to the bottom hinge through the kick panel, but where do I access the top hinge? Do I have to pull the dash to get to that one?

Thanks!

It sounds like the door is messed up pretty bad, and adjusting the door hinges isn`t going to help. There is very little adjustment in the door hinges, maybe a 1/4'' at the most, so to really fix the problem you will need to replace the door.

also.. not to bum you out.. but the pillar that the door bolts to might also be bent.. and a junkyard run wont help there... =\
