I just rebuilt my 3.0 in my girlfriends pickup. She drove it for about a week with no issues but now, all of the sudden, it puked all the oil out of the oil filter gasket. So, I put on a new filter and it did it again. Where is the oil pressure relief valve on this thing? Would that cause a problem such as this. There is an allen head plug on the oil pump housing kind of in front of the oil filter. I pulled that out thinking it was the valve but the chamber was empty. Any advice?

 

Relief valve is in the filter. What filter? I've had this happen when the old filter gasket stuck on the engine....

 

Every filter I put on blows the seal out. How much pressure can that pump create?

 

It's in the bottom of the oil pump housing.

I don't know, maybe it would? Could also be there's some kind of restriction/blockage in the oil passage(s) after the filter causing excessive pressure. Or possibly a combination of both.

Quite a bit actually. 36-75 PSI @ 3000 RPM
