3.0 problem

so i was doing a final overcheck of my engine before i installed it and was turning the crank bolt to make sure timing wasnt going to skip a tooth or anything and the crank only turns about 1/2 to 3/4 then stops and wont turn anymore even with all my weight on the breaker bar it wont move anymore. i bought the engine from a guy in spokane but i now think i bought a $500 paperweight instead of a replacement engine. Was wondering if anyone could have any ideas to why this is happening

yep sounds like a bend/broken rod or spun bearings jammed up. Best bet is to pull the pan to check it out

you do have your spark plugs out right? I bought a 22 re from someone for parts who swore up and down it was seized cause he couldn't move it with a breaker bar, but when I threw a battery in it, it cranked over nice and easy.

Something is binding, a stuck open valve would not do that. A Stuck closed valve would, but it'd have to be stuck pretty good, I have no idea how.

My suggestion is to check the cylinders through the plug hole, could be some foreign material in there.
