After the radiator in my El Camino failed a couple years ago I ended up doing alot of research by reading several hotrodding forums and found out what you just said. I think you made a good choice.Originally Posted by bswarm

He said the best thing to do is get the aluminum core w/plastic tank type for $160, or he could build a better quality custom copper for $300. I hesitated on the aluminum/plastic type, but after seeing my copper one fail so early I went ahead and bought the aluminum one,

It's a ground that hooks up on the block near the dipstick. It's for the wiring that connects your headlights, alternator, and other various electronics. Originally Posted by cammac.cmm

I recommend bolting it on so you don't have any issues. My brothers truck had that ground burn up cause it was not properly grounded and it caused all of the wiring and fuse box in the engine bay to have to be replaced.
Save yourself the hassle and bolt it in.

Clean both the connector and the area it's getting bolted to with a wire brush or some #0000 steel wool, then smear some dielectric grease on it to help keep corrosion away.
