1994 toyota pickup 2 cylinder Code 71 EGR
Hello Eveybody I'm Oliver from Long Beach and I'm in need of some help fixing my car. I got a check engine light with code 71 which is EGR. My car also shakes when in reverse and sometimes when idling. So far I have changed the EGR valve but one thing I am stuck in is I've seen a youtube video were if you apply vacuum when your car is running to the egr valve it is suppose to stall and die. For some reason mine isn't what should I do? Thank you guys.

Make sure when you suck air from the vacuum it almost shuts of or shuts off the engine. That means it should be working. If bot then take it off and clean it. Once its confirmed that it works. Check everything that works with the egr.
Im having almost the same issue but my egr valve works. Ive cleaned all hose passages. Checked hoses for leaks and all are good. Replaced the egr modulator. Also replaced the egr vacuum switching solenoid with a working one, the green one. Ibalso replaced the thermal vacuum valve that leads to the charcoal canister. At this point I think its just a bad egr sensor not reading the proper themperature. I used a 10k ohm and no check wngine light for 3 weeks so far. Need too find a good egr sensor since their pricey new.

Hey Jose thanks for the advice I will start trouble shooting. Also it has started to rough idle and die when stopping at signs. If I press the accelerator then it prevents it but sometimes happens again when stopping again. I'll lyk what I find and hopefully get some more help. Thank you!
