So I want to change my thermostat where does the jiggler go towards the front of the truck or Towards the back of the truck?
on a 1990 22re 2wd

 

I removed the jiggler after reading this thread:

It doesn't really matter which way the "jiggler" faces since the thermostat sits in the thermostat housing horizontally.

The Factory Repair Manual from Toyota does not mention the orientation for the 22R-E.

Keep the "jiggler" installed. I don't see a good reason to remove it.

 

I did the same with mine, haven't had any issues.

 

Yes it does not matter since it is mounted horizontally. A Jeep 4.0 is mounted vertically, and yes it does matter which way the jiggler points.
