hello

looking to remove the oil pan in my 1990 22re pickup 2wd is it easy to remove ?
and what do I have to do to remove it ?

It isn't too bad on a 2wd. I pulled one to sell from a junk engine. Basically the front plastic cover and a cross member that could be a bit of a bear (I live in Michigan aka rust), then it was just a matter of unbolting the oil pan. This was on a 95 (pre-tacoma) so it should be the same thing you're running.

Just wondering, why do you need to remove the oil pan? Are you replacing it due to rust/hole?

I see, shouldn't be too long. I'd guess 1-2 hours tops, experienced and having the tools ready etc 30 mins is probably possible.

 

When you go to drop the cross member, loosen all of the nuts before doing anything else then make sure you have no tension on the bolts. If they are under any pressure at all you need to stop and reconsider just how bad you want the pan to just slip into place versus having to wiggle it past that cross member...

It means your frame is tweaked or otherwise improperly supported and you're going to need wedges to get that cross member back in at best.. mine required two floor jacks and an assortment of bolts ground down to spikes. It's loads of fun..

 

Interesting, I've pulled 3-4 apart and none of them had the tension like yours. The only problem I had was rust.
