1-4 shift controller?>???

1-4 shift controller?>???
anyone can tell me if i get rid of the ecu and use a manual 1-4 shifter box on a 340h,will the transfer case still work without ecu or i need to install some switch to activate the solenoid to get in 4x4 etc?
