1984 toyota 4runner

What do you guys recommend for a new radiator? Is there a good place to get one, or is the one down at napa as good as any for these things? Also price consideration as well.

One other question. I've got a 195 F thermostat. Does anyone recommend running something a little cooler? I've got a 22r/20r hybrid, so I think it's going to produce a little higher temps in the combustion chambers. That's just my assumption, but I'm no expert by any means on this stuff.

Is there anything wrong with your radiator? If it is leaking you can take it to a raditor shop and they try to repair and clean it for under $60. If you want to upgrade or get a new one, alot of people have mentioned radiator barn, https://www.radiatorbarn.com/search....oduct=radiator. I hope this helps. On the thermostat you can go to a 180 degree if you want, but if you go with a three row it will cool great with a 195 stat.

Yeah, there is something wrong with it. It's been welded on and leaks. It's beat up etc... Time for a new one.

I picked one up at NAPA for 140 with a lifetime and I've got a 195 thermostat. I've read on 4crawlers (i believe that's where I saw it) about replacing it b/c I was trying to find info on the thermo and I saw he was suggesting a 195. If I should be using a 180 then I'll pick on up.

What's the school of thought on the thermostat temp?

Radiatorbarn.com is the way to go. I just put in a 2 row from them a month or so ago and it's awesome.

I got a 3 row from autozone a few yrs back, think it was $130. But i just went back with a 2 row because in the winter, regardless of what t stat i ran it would never get above 160. With the 2 row and 195 t stat, it works great. I don't think the 22r makes enough heat for a 3 row. IMHO.
As far a t stat temp, from what ive read you could get better milage with a higher temp t stat. Most of the power from the engine is lost to heat. So with higher coolent temps the engine should be more efficiant. The tread below expalins it better.
