New to the Forum 84 4Runner

Hey guys, I recently picked up a 1984 4Runner. I just wanted to introduce myself on the boards. Im a newb to the offroad world but not to wrenching, I'm coming over from the drag, autocross, and road race world hehe..

I'm looking to build a reliable, stable, and capable daily driver. The previous owner claims to have installed a 2" lift, I'm not very sure of it, or know how to exactly tell if it does have a lift. I've looked underneath and the leaf springs look stock to me...it currently has 31x10.5x15 but I'd like to go up to a 32x11.5 or 33x12.5 in the near future, any advice is greatly appreciated.

So far all I've done to it is modify and install a roof rack and a safari basket..here she is

Thanks for the welcome!..

Let me know what y'all think about my plans for the first wave of mods:

OME lift
5100 or 5150 Bilstein Shocks
32x11.5x15 BFG AT KO's
4.56 gears

I'm still researching and open to advice, I greatly appreciate any comments...

if your gonna get some new tires i dont suggest 33x12.5 i have some 32x9.5 buckshots on now and they work great. also look at the shackles he may have put lift shackles on if the leafs look stock. good looking runner though

That truck looks amazing!!! Hope you can keep it that way! Question tho, where did you get those fender flares? They look great, and probably keep that genetic cancer from getting outta control.
Anyways, Welcome

thanks! I dont know where the flares came from, they were already on when I bought it...

sorry for the late reply, I've been way busy lately, havent gotten pretty much anything done to "Petra".. I did however get a set of new tires, ended up keeping the 31" size, BFG AT KO's should be pretty good for what I use it for....

I am looking for a set of OEM springs, and greasable shackles my original springs are starting to have a negative curve..anyone have an idea where I can get some, I've been looking online without much luck, I see alot of lift springs but I really don't want a lift at the moment..any help is greatly appreciated!

Here she is with her new tires

Here's one of my favorite shots I took at Palo Duro Lake in Spearman, Tx

If you have 4.10 stock gears, i would recommend that you go with 4.88 gears.
4.56 gears wouldn`t be that noticable over the stock gears. Maybe a little, but not much.

Where are you located at? Are you around the Tulsa area or just a TU grad? I'm looking for fellow toyota owners to wheel with in Green Country.
