How often do you adjust your valves?

I'm about 35k past my last valve adjustment which is 5k over when the FSM says its due for another. I have the gaskets but heard from someone its really only necessary every 100k or so. Now I'm thinking about pushing it to 60k or when I have another reason to take off the valve cover. What do you think? How often are you adjusting valve clearance in your 22re?

the way this works is that the valve cools off when it's resting on the seat, so if the gap changes the valve could spend less time resting on the seat, aka it stays hotter... at some point it may not be resting on the seat at all, which burns and corrodes the sealing area between the valve and the valve seat; the edges of the valve can become brittle and break off, sending metal chunks into the combustion chamber.

doing 22re valve adjustments at 100k is foolish... you need to monitor for developing trends in the valve gap in order to catch problems before it gets serious.

I went ahead and adjusted them if only to see how it looks around factory intervals. All the intake were perfect but the exhaust were all tight so I'll be sticking to every 30k going forward.

Help!

I'm working on my brother's 85 Toy pickup. He just replaced the head on it because the exhaust bolts were stripped out. I timed the engine with all the markers. Went to do the valve adjustment. The first 4 had no problem but when I went to turn the crank 360° I got quarter way and it sounds like the pistol is hitting the valve almost. Or could there be something else I'm forgetting. Has no spark plugs in it, only intake, exhaust is mounted and timing cover is back on
