Fuel system problems 22R
I guess it is time to start asking stupid questions.
My truck is a 1987 4x4 22r carb, that has served me very well over the last 10 years.
My problems started when I put some gas that was old in it,
I thought it would be fine but I have had nothing but problems since.
I ran the gas through and it pinged and ran like crap.
First I put some carb cleaner through it, then replaced the fuel filter when it was plugged badly.
I then had my fuel pump start leaking so I replaced it and used gumout on the carb.
The problem that won't go away is it runs rich, very rich so rich, it sputters and misses.
At one time I could bring it up to operating temp shut it off and let it sit for about 10 minutes,
and it would run fine or at least not nearly as bad.
I finally got tired of messing with it and wanted a weber anyway so I swapped it for an offy dual port and a weber
32/36 and I basicly still have the same problem. I got rid of all of the egr except the charchol canister. I am running a manual choke, I had a mr gasket pressure regulator but it was leaking like a siv so I pulled it off and am running direct to the weber with my manual pump. I am starting to lean toward a pugged fuel return line and was just curious if anyone has had similar problems.
