I replaced the passenger side door years ago after a flop..

The problem is that there is a gap on the back end of the door and is a noisy.

I picked up the door, and wasn't really sure if it came from a pick up, 4runner but it mounted up and so I used it. It also had a wing that I swapped the parts for a full window.

Is there any chance that the pickup door is shorter then the 4runner door? or is the 1984 door different from a 1989 door? Or did not just not do that great of a job replacing the top of the cab.

how much of a gap? if you flopped it and either straightened or replaced sections of the cab's door jamb, my guess is this is where your problem lies, not the door itself. you could also try taking some measurements off other people's doors to rule it out.

 

It's about 1/4 to 1/2 inch....

the door jamb was not replaced, the cut was from the bottom of the a-pillar across.

and the gap is noticeable at the bottom of the door.

 

i dunno then. still think it's related to the flop - something likely got tweaked slightly, like perhaps the bottom of the A-pillar/hinge pillar got slightly tweaked and is now resulting in a gap. pretty sure all the 1st gen 4runner and 2nd gen pickup sheet metal is the same from the front doors forward, so i would double check by having someone take some measurements off their door and verify this. if it turns out to be the correct door size and still a gap, i think the thing to do would be to weld a piece of rod to the edge of the door panel to extend it - at least that's what I see people do on their classic cars to fix gaps.

the fit looks good from the outside. its the inside that the seal does not mate with the body.

 

doors are the same 84-88 + 89 4runner

there is a wee bit of adjustment in the hinges ,but not much .. certainly not 1/2 "

Well guess I need to pull the fender and try and align it better
