backing plate bolt pattern
I'm wanting to build a better rear wheel bearing removal tool to replace the angle iron contraption I did in a hurry the last time I needed one. I mostly need it for '85 skinny axles. Was going to cut up a spare 87 rear axle to make a tool, but remembered I have a 95 rear housing that's one step from the scrap pile. Think that will work with a little notching of the stud holes or is it too far off?

I was going to make an sst like the one pictured, seemed a little less work than having to cut the flanges out of steel plate. I recall the bolt pattern on the 86 and later being larger than my 85 axle, no idea about the mid 90's runners. I might just need to get an early axle? I guess I'm wondering if the stud are going to be so close to the larger tube I won't be able to get a nut on them.
