Air not blowing from outside vents?

Hello all! I recently bought 1985 2wd base pickup. I’m in the process of troubleshooting the AC system. The first off thing I noticed is when I turn the blower motor on, it blows out of the two center vents, but nothing comes out of the two outside vents. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

I like to start with the simple things.

Those two outer vents have a little dial that opens and closes a flapper just behind the grille of these vents. The flapper either allows air to go through the vent or blocks the air form coming through. Are the flappers closed?

Does air come out of the appropriate vents when you switch the airflow vent position lever (Dash vent only, Dash vent with floor vent, floor vent only, floor vent with defrost, defrost only)?

Your lever may say something like Vent, Bi-Level, Heat, etc, but I believe the venting is the same as above.

As long as Toyota kept the air box in the dash the same in this generation, the side vents should blow air no matter which position the vent lever is in.

If everything else works and the flappers are open, then you might have some missing ducting or really clogged up ducting (which can happen because there is no cabin air filter on these trucks), or possibly a venting door in the air box that is not right.

I haven't worked on my ducting to know for sure what can cause your problem.
