Did you do a search of the threads on this site? This is what I know. Maybe wrong maybe right. On 84 to 88 trucks and 84 to 89 4-runners on SR-5's have full guage clusters with a tach and your spedo cable will fit on them but your sensors that your idiot guage cluster work on are different ones for the guages, so they have to be changed...
I'm not sure if a V-6 cluster will work in a 4 banger...And weather the automatic full guage clster will work in a manual or vise versa...
On my privious 87 standard toy I had idiot light cluster and I bought a cheap tach from mijers for 20 bucks and use outdoor double sided 3M tape and mounted it on right side of cluster and and took off cluster cover & ran wire under cluster cover into engine bay and there is a 1 1/2 long green plug coming off your coil and should have a rubber cover on it and take that off and crimp a flat male connector to wire and cut a small hole in the cover and put it on wire before putting connector on to make a water tight seal then hook up the rest of the wires, connect the light wire to a wire that comes on with the other lights on dash...I did this because I was poor
and didn't want to buy an expensive full guage cluster and have to replace sensors...This was way back in 94 and before the rise of e-bay so finding a cluster locally would have been a big pain...I tried and was told to replace sensors if i did, so it was too expensive...
