4wd 'jerking'

hey guys,

im in the market for a 2nd gen 4runner. I went to test drive one today. When I engaged 4wd, and hit the gas,it jerked. It feels like its binding on something. What problem is this? its a 95 auto and automatic hubs. thanks!

Its possible that the gears are different in the front and rear, that would cause it to bind up because one axle is fighting the other because of the different gearing.

I would ask about the axle or chunks, if they have been changed out in it. Myyota, I test drove a 2000 wrangler a few years ago and it done the same as pj said, they put a cherokee front axle under it and the gears were different.
