ive got a 78 toy 2wd and was wandring what i would have to change to put a chev 350 in it. or if it would be better and cheaper to build the 20r. and how much power can i get out of the 20r.

cant get much power of the lil 20rs i went with a new 22r swap and part of me wishes i went with the chevy, what it takes to swap it in there im not sure i never looked at it that closely. i would say try searching im sure theres a write up on this site or maybe search it on google too. its pretty common you will find stuff.

I wouldn't run a stock Toyota tranny (especially an L series) behind a V8, even a mild one. Good thing about being 2wd is that there are numerous options for different trannies that will work just fine, a T5 from a Camaro would be my choice but there are others. In any case, a manual tranny would require a bit of fab work on your part (crossmember, etc.) , an auto may or may not.

And don't forget suspension. You'll have to beef it up a lot to handle the weight, and there's clearance issues with the oil pan to deal with. And cooling, and clearance issues in the engine compartment.
