83 toyota pick-up

i was looking at buying one of these and was asking some guys about how to lift it and just some other questions. well i bought it yesterday but can not actually bring it home for 2 weeks because the DMV was closed. it runs well but needs some work before i can really take it through insepction. it will need a new exhaust, it has a hole in the floor right behind the seat, and something is wrong with the E-brake. not to bad for 800 bucks. It has a real goofy looking wooden box on it instead of a bed so after i fix those other things i would like to target in on lifting it some and puting a flat bed on. well these are my plans for now, i would like it to be a mild off road truck so feel welcome to give me any advice/ideas for it! oh and buy the way this is going to be a budget build!

my .02...

If you are going to build this thing on a budget...aren't we all?...plan out what you want, i.e. "I want to run 33" tires", then lay out what it is going to take to do that and voila...you do it.

I am very bad at planning rigs so I can tell you from experience that a little foresight can go a heck of a long way.

Congratulations on the new truck, enjoy it...

lift is always nice on these truck but if ur going cheap with it...run 33s, stock..no issuses except a little sluggish with running 33s..then just swap in some gears and u'll be good

Hey,if it rubs...cut it off

I wouldn't hink that anything would rub, but it is possible. If you had really bad front springs...maybe?

Lift it and takeaway the rubbing worries...
