83 pickup fuel filter

83 pickup fuel filter

where in the world is it just changed my clutch master cylinder and slave and after i got it all running the clutch engages nicely but i go to barely press teh gas in 4th gear and it stutters but when i floor it it goes fine and it only does this randomly its not all the time it seems like its not getting fuel because it has died a couple times idling ive already changed the fuel pump and i couldnt figure out the fuel filter the first time so im gonna try to find it again1

on my 84 that i had you had to go to the passenger side rear tire and look in the wheel well towards the gas tank and there it was....it might be close to there for you as well

well ill go take a look my tank is more towards the cab and the hoses come out of the front i dont think its there

I dont imagine that the fuel filter is you problem. I've had clogged fuel filters before and usually you dont get any high rpm's or under load power. What you described sounds like your carb float might be sticking. Mine has had the same problem, sometimes it wont idle, it runs terrible at half throttle but will rev high at full throttle. I think it is because the float sticks and cuts off fuel to the primary barrel but the secondary will still have fuel and will only open at high throttle. I always had to get out and tab on the float bowl with a hammer and long punch to loosen the float. That usually works.
