i need a new windsheild. Took it out myself this afternoon and can get the seal of ebay. A dude on craigslist has one that i cna remove and get for $20. Would a 78 windsheild fit in my 81 4x4? I think it wll but just want to make sure.

 

somebody must know? Im pretty sure it will fit but would hate to go buy it and then have it be a waste

 

So I know that you want to save a few bucks but I am pretty sure the bodies are different from the 78 to the 79-83 though it sure looks close. I was trolling for a used windshield for my 81, the 5 I found always seems to have a small chip or crack towards the edge. Waisted a lot of time. I found a glass shop that put in a new windshield and seal for $150. It is guaranteed for one year so if it leaks I just go back to them...

 

I'm prety sure that the 79-83 windows are interchangable but i would doubt that the previous body style would fit. But you never know, so you could probly call the local glass shop and ask.
