I recently bought a 1978 Hilux Dually and can't seem to find ANY info at all, other than it spent the majority of it's life hauling a small camper.

I've never seen another in person, and have only found three or so photos online. If anyone has photos, or any other general info on them I'd be very interested in seeing it.

Also, looking for a transmission in the Seattle region.

I have seen one like this in a town close to me it is used as a service truck. 2wd. I just figured it was something someone built in a garage to be funny. Had no idea they actually built them

 

I think a lot of them are aftermarket duallys. Some Uhaul trucks were, and then the campers, but pretty much any pre...84, I think, campers with dually setups were done after the fact, after a few axle failures...

I don't know that a single Toyota came off the assembly line with duallys. At least not back then.

 

My parents owned a 1978 Toyota Hi Lux Crew Cab Dually as our family vehicle most of my childhood. My brothers and I all learned to drive in that truck. It was easy and fun to drive. My parents have pictures of ours. It was orange. My son wants one. Good luck in finding parts

 

When my father bought his, the dealer claimed that Toyota had only produced a couple hundred HiLux Dually trucks that were sent to different dealers nationwide. Ours was purchased in Louisiana.
