WTB[PacSoWest]: Solid front axle
#3
Thanks, and yes you're right. I've been looking at them for a while too and even housings alone typically go for $350-$500. But then you have to find a diff, buy new axles/berfs...
Turns out I was extremely lucky as not 2 days after posting this I extended my CL search to all of California and found a great deal in the Sacramento area. I was a little hesitant because it's over 700 miles round trip but I am glad I did it. It was the whole axle (housing, shafts, everything hub to hub basically and diff). What made me go was that the diff already had 529's (which I am already running in the rear and in my IFS third) and had a detroit locker. $750 for everything.
So I think there is a lot of luck involved in the process.
