In addition to my long term addiction, the 86 PU, I bought an 88 4Runner-- which I now need to sell.
The 4Runner is not perfect, but it is very nice. Never wheeled. Never wrecked. Lived most its life in Oregon. Extremely low rust. It's only been in Chicago for one winter-- and this winter isn't even over, up here!
3 things I don't like
I can't confirm the AC blows colder than the Chicago winter air.
Idle is sometimes not perfectly smooth
Overdrive sometimes does not engage
All the other stuff
Crate 3vze, mechanic installed at the shop, 11/1/2013. Rebuild auto trans installed at same time by same shop. I have all receipts from the previous owner. BFG TA/AT tires are in great shape. Always starts and runs, even when it's single-digits cold. PW/PL/PS. There's a crack in the dash, but the rest of the interior is extremely nice. all the floor mats, seats, etc. Power windows/locks work well. There is no rear sag. The rear window works like it should.
I bought this thing for $8900 a couple months ago, because I thought it was perfect. My bad. I think $7500 is fair for what it is. Time to move on-- hope you love it.
I have a ton more photos, including photos where you'd expect to see rust. Door undersides, pillars, frame, etc. Nope. The rust is simply not there. There is a TINY bit of rust in a couple places, but this thing is almost entirely rust free. The local dealer fawns all over it, when we take my wife's 2014 4Runner in for a service.
