Thumbs up 800 watt Cobra inverter

got this cobra 800w power inverter on ebay from "netdirectbargains" for only $40. its new, it works, and came with a cool carrier if you don't want to hard wire it in. works great supports most of my power tools like a grinder, drill, and stuff without problems, a great product at an unbeatable price!

Nice!!! Do you have a write up of your install? I've been interested in doing something like this for awhile.

i do not have a write up because it was so easy. take some 8 awg wire and run it along the frame from the battery, drill a hole through the body and run the wire through. use the cargo hooks for a ground but be sure to remove and grind the contact surfaces for a good ground. then hook both up to it and it works. for mounting it i took that cargo panel off and drilled small holes to get the screws started. i was going to get the 400w but decided that 800w would better run power tools if i needed, like a grinder draws 5 amps at 110v, thats 550 watts of continuous power.

Cool. I almost want to include an auxilary battery, but that would complicate things and drive the costs way up. I'm thinking about getting a higher output alternator, though. I'm not sure it would be needed right now, though.

yeah the 400 is enough for stuff like laptops and other things that draw less than 4 amps, anything more and you want something that can support more than 4 amps without worry.
