Greenwater, WA. Fall Colors Run 10 13 2007 trip report
Fantastic day, the sun was out, not a raindrop in sight.
Friday it had rained early in the day in the lowlands, and it must have rained some into Friday evening too up at Greenwater, as we encountered about zero dust while traveling on FS road 72.
Most of the time during the summer you can not see more than 20' or so in front of you if you are following someone.
With the recent rain the roads/trails were still damp, and that keeps the dust down which means I do not have to clean the inside of my rig when I get home, as I suffer from allergies quite a bit.
There was a humongous crowd of FJ Cruisers, Toyotas, Jeeps, and 2 and 4 door Jeep Rubicons.
Long ago we had a run up around the same area and Lawrence & Richele had a '93 Nissan Pathfinder at the time.
He now has a very nice yellow 2 door Rubicon.
It has been several years since I had seen him and his wife.
Looking forward to meeting up with him again up there in the future.
We will be planning a snow run come sometime in November or early December, and also in January.
Greenwater is a great place to explore when it is covered in snow too.
Members from both YotaTech and FJ Cruiser Forums met up today to have a great time in the sun and catch the fall colors before they disappear up there.
We stopped a few times as you will see in the pictures below to get some group shots of the rigs, and also pictures of the fall colors and Mount Rainier.
The mountain was out for all to see, what a grand site it is.
Seeing Mount Rainier out like this when we have had some crappy weather for the past few weeks was great.
Todays weather is what October is really suppose to be like, as it is usually one of the nicest months.
This year it has seen more of its share of rain and cloudy weather than normal.
Heck, the whole summer was off this year, one of the most disappointing ones in a very long time.
The pictures below were taken with my Sony H9 digital camera.
Looking forward to seeing more pictures stream in here later.
I also have video, but will work on that more than likely tomorrow when I will add all of the pictures below and them into a You Tube video.
Finally got the ARB fridge/freezer dialed in correctly.
On the past few runs I was running it at around 28 degrees for the ice cream bars, not cold enough.
I found out on the last trip that the ideal temperature is to have the freezer at zero Fahrenheit.
I had it colder, it was down to about -3 degrees.
The ice cream bars this time were nice and solid, just like at home, even harder in fact.
The ARB fridge will accompany me on each run, it is very handy.
Nothing like whipping out nice frozen ice cream bars to pass out to folk's while we are stopped for awhile talking to each other.
After some of us took time to eat a little, all of the Jeeps and some of the FJ Cruisers left to set out for the Naches Trail and run it West to East.
I think they were going to then take highway 410 West back up over Chinook Pass and back down into Greenwater again then head home.
One of these days I may get my FJ out on the Naches, but I am in no hurry to do that right now.
We saw some roads we want to explore next spring/summer after the snow melts up there.
There are so many places to explore up there, you can never see or cover it all in a lifetime.
I have been going up there for over 20 years, and have hardly made a dent in the place.
Got to meet some new people today and meet up with some old friends I had not seen in a very long time.
We also saw a few hunters up there as today was opening day for deer season with a rifle.
Did not hear any bullets whizzing by, so that was good
Looking very forward to the next trip up there.

It is also mirrored over on FJ Cruiser Forums site, as there will be many pictures flowing in over there too.

Hey Cory-
Thanks for the invite, the run was great! Was that a prefect day or what! Everyone in my party had a blast and were glad to join up with you guys and gals. Some have never been up there and were amazed. The run on the Naches was excellent and I was glad some of the FJ's made it up with us, great group of people! We did a couple stops and took some pics; cabin, sign, etc. Everyone did great with no problems. I've done the eastside, but this was my first time on the westside. I think If I don't make it up there before it closes this year, maybe next year I'd like to run it east to west, that'll make some really good hill climbs. Anyways I'll try to get to you the pics I have of the Naches, one of my neighbors and I were bringing up the tail and we didn't get any pics of the run, but I think some up front may have. And yeah, we'll have to do a snow! It was good to see you my friend.

Thanks LA.
You can use www.photobucket.com for a picture host if you do not have one, and the pics will show up here.
Just got back from the coin-op carwash to clean the exterior.
I will be ready to go back up for a snow run for sure.
Chris, looking forward to seeing the pics you guy's got.
