Got to take a brief trip to the western slope here's a few photos. The trail I went on was FR 257 off of Highway 65. Easy trail, probably a level 3 not very rocky and most of the puddle bottoms were solid but some sections were a little muddy. The deepest section of water we went through was to the running board. Most of the larger rocks are 6 - 8 inches. Lots of puddles and mud. We probably went through a dozen of them over 3 miles. One of the holes had a rock just below the muddy water surface in the middle of the ruts. Got a little dingy in my front skid when Kumara, my friend, was driving. Really was my fault for not being more thorough when checking under the muddy waters.
Crazy street naming out there on the western slope. Who ever heard of a road 7/8ths or 7/10ths? This was in Grand Junction, CO

A typical mesa in the foothills on the way to the trail

Soaking up the sun before the heading to higher altitudes

Nice carved out river wall on Highway 65

Ice was only 3/4" thick

Toyota's are good little ice breakers too.

Don't ya dig it when a woman likes to wheel?

A little hit from the rock hidden under the water. Not from where the 4Runner got a little off camber in the above pic. It was in an unsuspecting spot that looked like it was only 8 inches deep. It was the combo of a low spot and the apporoach angle that did it. I probed the muddy water with a stick but missed the rock in the middle there. How do ya all like to check for hidden surprises under the water? Any tips?

Typical puddles

Great colors out there

A little ice glaze

One of the few times I'm on the other side of the camera.

Glen, nice pics! I only get to wheel in the snow and ice about twice a year. Me and group of folks head to NC to go skiing/boarding around Jan & Feb and that's all the snow I get to see
. Down here in AL, we are doing good just to see frost in the winter months!
And yeah, it's a bonus when chicks like to wheel
