btw - Changing from 6.5s to 6x9s is a DOWNGRADE not an upgrade. 6x9s sound like ass in general...

1. Alpine CDA-9856 HU
2. Hertz 6 1/2" components up front - hits pretty hard for separates
3. Alpine 4" coaxes in the rear doors
4. Hertz 12" sub in Hertz sub box
5. JL Audio 300/4 amp running the fronts and sub, HU running the coaxes
6. Optima 34/78 w/ bling Monster terminals
7. Sound deadened front doors
8. All Monster wires

Thinking about "The Big 3" mod once I can get some questions answered. Nothing too drastic but the system sounds real good for people inside the truck. Also, not too bad in price as everything above installed came out to less than $1600.

Are any of your subs in custom boxes or just ones that sit on the floor of the trunk?

Not really too much to mine. I have a 10" JL Audio W0 subwoofer with an Alpine M350.

I pretty much have the stock stereo in the 85', the tape player doesn't work anymore, and the rear speakers are blown. But I just put in some nice 4" infinities up front that I had laying around...

Hey stout, How did the kodas sound in the kicks? Are those prefab or did you make them?

My humble setup
Eclipse 8454
Adire koda comps
Mcintosh mc440
Adire brahma II 10"
US amps de-100 modded to run @ 1 ohm

Thinking about some kicks

Those kicks are prefab by Q-form, I just reinforced them with some fiberglass and they're quite durable now. The imaging is perfect, but then again I have another set with the mid in the doors and the tweet in the sail. I may be overkill but I likes it...

I don't know a ton about stereo stuff but it's funny to me how the guys w/ the really expensive stuff are so humble about their systems. The one I just quoted has got to be some super expensive stuff...

Well, Maybe it was expensive new, but I purchased the Mcintosh and the usamps broken at really great prices. I sent them to my amp/electronics guru (who builds and designs kicker amps) for repair/mod.

Now if I could only replace the broken glass on the 440 for less than the the 250& mcintosh labs quoted me I'd be done. Actually I also purchased the koda comps used so the only new items are the eclipse and the brahma.

Stout, so you are running 2 mids and 2 tweets per side and it sounds ok? How is it set up? as a 4 way or 2 2-ways? I'd love to get some q-forms and stick my adire sf-7s in the doors as a 3-way I am just not sure how I'd handle the x-over duty and if the kicks would get in the way of my clutch.

Yes, two mids and two tweets. I have them running off only the front channels of my amp at 2 ohm stereo. I guess you can say that I'm running them as one 2 way setup. I've tested it with just the kicks, just the doors, and then both together. All setups sounded good, however, the midbass from the kicks was little lacking, and the imaging from just the doors was a little lacking... But both sets together is amazing. If you go three way you'd have to go active or build your own crossover which would be a pain. The kick on the driver side does come out pretty far and I can see it getting in the way of your clutch somewhat. I can post a pic of how it looks in mine if you want and you can decide if there will be enough room.

A pic with maybe a measurement from the edge of the kick to the clutch (if you have one) or to the beake pedal would be really cool.

Thanks!
