Hard wiring power for 3 Gen and Sirius - please help

I have a 1997 4Runner w/ Alpine CDM 9803 aftermarket CD player.

I just bought a Stratus 4 (Sirius plug and play unit). I am good on Antenna install and have already set up my aux input for sound on aftermarket Alpine CMD 9803 stereo (I did it a while back for IPOD use). I need to know how to hard wire the power instead of just plugging it in to the cig lighter.

Do I wire into the fuse box? Where would I wire it and how? or do I cut the cig light wires behind and wire it there? Which wires? Please be as specific as possible. I am not and electrical engineer, so any help would be appreciated.

I promise I'll send pics when it's done.

Thank you!

you will need to go to radio shack or something like that to get a cig lighter receptacle with leeds coming off the back, or solder some wires onto the cig plug of the sat radio.

do not just cut off the cig adaptor, it cuts the voltage from 12 to 5 volts.

behind the radio bezel, there should be two wires leading into the factory cig lighter. one should be gray, and the other will be white/black or brown. the gray is 12+ volts and the other is ground.

tap into those wires and you should be good to go.

ETA:
you can also get power behind the deck if thats easier, red 12+ and black 12- at the radio.

Thanks a lot. I'll give Radio Shack a try to see if they have something like it.
