Half Decent Cheap amp and speakers?
After spending 5-6 months riding around listening to tire noise, I've decided I want to go ahead with my plans for a sound system in my '85 Xtra-Cab.
I want to run it like many buggy setups, no head unit, just my MP3 player into the amp then the rest like normal. I need decent sound relatively cheap (I'm far from an audiophile, I just like my music to be clear).
I've got holes for 4 speakers in the truck (whatever the stock sizes for this truck are, I can't recall, and it's 1:21 AM, so i don't really want to run out to the truck to check right this minute). I'm not too concerned with a subwoofer, as I'm not a big fan of huge over boosted bass, and 90% of sound systems I hear have too much. I know how to wire an amp into the truck, but I don't know jack about what a good one for my application would be, or what speakers to use etc... any help would be much appreciated.

RF P400-4
50 watts x 4 @ 4ohms RMS
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listi...168289-7068750
be warned the the amp will actually be closer to 70-100 watts RMS. My P400-2 was rated 100x2 @4ohm and ended up being 170x2 @4ohm
(gotta love RF)

Wow, those RFs seem a bit high for what he wants and maybe more than what he wants.
Try this. Profile AP1040 amp with Polk Speakers.
Profile amp ==> http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...9AP1040&tp=115
Tell Crutchfield you want the AP740. They will tell you it is out of stock, but they will probably up you to the AP1040 for the same price as the AP740. They did this for me. Saved me another $20.

x2 on the Profile amp. used to have one, and only got rid of it b/c i wanted something louder. also check out the power acoustik amps, as they're pretty "bang-for your-buck" worthy. as far as subs, i'd say go with 2 10s. pioneer makes some nice ones, the model number being TS-W257, and go with the dual 4 ohm version. i've heard them, and they're good for the small price tag.
