Recaro seat swap
Hello,
Last weekend I did a seat swap. I took the front seats off an Open Kadett GSi (The GSi series had Recaro seats from stock) and then simply adapted the guides to the 4Runner holes.
I bought them for 60€ the pair.
When I take them home they were dusty
I used the vacuum cleaner and things changed
Then used my mother's steam machine
They're Recaro
Driver's seat installed
Ah! The nice thing of coming from a 2-door car, they can recline, useful for camping
I simply bolted the seatbelt piece in the new seats
And the impressions... I love them! They're quite firmer than stock, the shape makes you feel inside the seat, not above it, and with the seatbelt your body is very very well secured to the seat. Also, the Recaros are a bit higher than stock seats, perfect for vision and for tall people. Ah! And the driver's seat has a height adjuster, very nice for offroading.
Now I want to put a 4-point seatbelt for when I go to the Sahara.

If I put a pair of seats like yours the inspection would ˟˟˟˟˟ me...
The clue is to simulate that is stock, so I've to use cheapo seat covers in the ITV (Tech inspection).
Very nice seats BTW, I also plan to add the seatbelts like you soon.

I guess Im glad Im in the USA.
THe seats may attract inspector's "attention" but here in PA we have "private" inspection.
Emissions is "state" controlled and on a dyno.
Safety stuff is check (more so than in NJ - for example they WILL pull the brake drums to check the pad depth).
Seats they dont care about. I have the STOCK belts in place.
